Our mission is to assist First Peoples' communities, organisations and individuals in exploring, defining, and establishing relevant cultural and holistic approaches to community and personal wellbeing; education and school restructuring/reform; and cultural development and/or awareness. Our commitment is to foster meaningful partnerships by upholding the highest standards that are embedded within the First Peoples ways of being. Through collaboration, advocacy, and capacity-building, we strive to assist in creating pathways of preserving, enhancing, and revitalising the cultural aspirations of those we work with.

Lorraine and Dale Awasis are willing to assist any person or community in need of their help/services. They use traditional Nehiyaw cultural approaches, ceremonies, and methods to help people. As customary, all they ask is that tobacco be offered first. Once tobacco is offered and accepted, it is up to the host to ensure their needs are looked after well (travel, meals, & accommodations). They also welcome and encourage people to go their home (in Sturgeon Landing, SK.) for help. Everything that is needed to do their work is available and accessible at their home.

Empowering First Nations Communities for Lasting Impact
Our vision is to assist the First Nations communities, that we work with, to thrive in an environment where their cultures, traditions, and aspirations are celebrated and sustained. We envisage a future in which Indigenous peoples have equitable access to opportunities, and their organisations are strengthened through culturally respectful, innovative support and services. Guided by a deep respect for traditional knowledge, we aim to be a catalyst for community wellness, educational advancement, and cultural enrichment.

L&D Services is guided with traditional Nehiyaw core values of miyo-pimahtisowin (good-life), miyo-mahchiyhowin (good-health), and papewewin (success). These values are embedded within the everyday interactions of the kayete-oskanowiynowak's (orignal peoples') social structure. Such interactions are traditionally based on extended families, kinship, and communal support networks. Decision-making is often consensus-based, with Elders playing a guiding role to ensure the continuity and sustainability of the people.
